Help

Ask how Advicity works and get a short answer from the feature pages, with a link to each page it used. For logged-in members and visitors on the FAQ page.

What it is

Help is a question box for how Advicity works. It is at /help, and every screen of the app links to it as "Help" in the top bar. On a phone, "Help" is a line of its own in the menu. You write a question in your own words, and help answers from Advicity's feature pages, the same pages anyone can read at /features. Under the answer it links every page it used, so you can read the whole page for yourself.

Help is given only the feature pages and the FAQ to answer from. When help finds that they do not cover your question, it says so and links the list of every feature page. Help is AI, not a person, and it can be wrong.

Why it matters

A question about Advicity should not need a search through every page. Help finds the pages that answer it and sums them up in a few lines. Because each answer links the pages it used, you can check it against the page itself. Help shows an answer only when it names the feature pages it used, and only pages published on this site.

How it works

  1. Open /help while logged in. If you are logged out, you are asked to log in first and then brought back to help. The foot of each feature page also links to help.
  2. Write your question in the box and choose Ask.
  3. When the feature pages answer it, help shows the answer and, under it, a link to each page it used.
  4. When the pages do not cover it, help says "The feature pages don't cover that. Here is every page:" and links the list of every feature page.
  5. When help takes your question to be about what you should decide or do about your own money, business, career or life, it does not answer it. It says "That is a question for your board, not for help. Ask it on your board:" and links your board.
  6. Each question is answered on its own. Help does not remember your last question, so ask each one in full.
  7. Under an answer you can tap "Didn't help". After 3 questions in one visit, or the second answer you mark "Didn't help", help stops offering another try and shows "Still stuck? Email us and a person will answer →". It opens an email to support@getadvicity.com in your own email app, with your last question as its subject and the screen you came from in it. You send it yourself, and a person answers. Nothing from your board is put in it.
  8. When help says the pages do not cover your question, or you tap "Didn't help", a box shows under it: "Send this question to Advicity so we can improve help". It is not ticked. Tick it and that one question is sent to Advicity, so the team can see what help cannot answer yet and add it to the feature pages. Untick it before you leave and it is taken back. Help's own answers change only when a person at Advicity changes the feature pages.

The foot of the help page also has "Email support@getadvicity.com", from your first visit.

You can ask help 30 questions a day. The day starts over at midnight UTC. Help questions also count toward the limit of 20 questions in 10 minutes that you share with your board. When you reach either limit, help tells you which limit you reached and how long until you can ask again.

Someone who is not logged in can ask help too, in the box under the questions on the FAQ page ("Ask about Advicity"). It answers the same way, from the same pages. Visitors can ask 10 questions a day from one internet address.

A worked example

Marcus is on the Ink plan. He wants Advicity on his phone, so he opens Help and asks "How do I put Advicity on my phone?". Help answers in a few lines and links the page "Install Advicity on your phone". He follows the link to read the steps for his phone.

Next he asks "Should I hire a second designer this spring?". That is a decision about his own business, so help does not answer it. It says the question is for his board and links "Your board", where he asks it.

Which plans include it

Help is included in the Paper plan, the Ink plan and the Brass plan at no extra cost. It works the same on every plan, and the daily limit is the same for every member.

Privacy and what the board keeps

Help does not read your board. It is given the feature pages and your question, and nothing else of yours: not your name, your email address, your plan, your advisors, your North Star or your decisions. So it cannot tell you what plan you are on or what your advisors said. Your question is sent to the AI model that writes the answer.

Help does not save your question or its answer unless you tick the box to send the question to Advicity. There is no history of help questions, and when you leave the page, both are gone. A question you send is kept without your name or who you are, and with nothing from your board, for 90 days, and then deleted. Once a week Advicity groups the questions members sent into topics, with the help of the AI model, to see which ones the feature pages miss. Advicity counts how many help questions you ask each day, without their words, to apply the daily limit. Advicity also counts each time help offers the email to support, with the number of questions asked before it, and without your question or who you are. Advicity also counts, each day, how many answers help gave, how many the pages did not cover and how many were marked "Didn't help", by the feature page they used, without your question or who you are, unless you chose "Leave my numbers out" in Settings.

Questions

Can help tell me what my advisors said, or which plan I am on?

No. Help cannot see your board. It is given only the feature pages and the FAQ, which are the same for every member. To read what your advisors said, open your board or your past questions.

Why did help say the feature pages don't cover my question?

Help is given only the feature pages and the FAQ to answer from. When it finds that none of them answers your question, it says so and links the list of every feature page. Try asking in other words, or browse the pages yourself.

Why won't help answer whether I should do something?

A question about what you should decide is a question for your board, not for help. Help points you to your board, where your advisors answer it with your North Star in mind.

How many questions can I ask help?

You can ask help 30 questions a day, and the day starts over at midnight UTC. When you reach it, help tells you about how long until you can ask again.
