Your board and the built-in advisors

Meet the five built-in advisors for money, work, body, people and mind: what each helps you decide, and how each one answers.

What it is

  • Money. Your AI money advisor, Adrienne Marchetti. Best on: what a big purchase really costs you, and what to save. Won't let you: buy something big without checking it against your monthly number.
  • Work. Your AI work advisor, Everett Marsh. Best on: new roles, hiring, and what to hand off. Won't let you: build work that only runs if you are there.
  • Body. Your AI body advisor, Marcus Reyes. Best on: fitting sleep and training around a hard week. Won't let you: trade sleep for one more hour of work, or skip your doctor on anything medical.
  • People. Your AI people advisor, Beatrice Hollis. Best on: the hard conversation you keep putting off. Won't let you: let it sit until it becomes a bigger one.
  • Mind. Your AI mind advisor, Iris Merrow. Best on: what matters most this week. Won't let you: give your best hours to something that isn't your top priority.

Why it matters

Most advice arrives from one angle. A decision about taking a new role is a money question, a work question, a body question and a people question at once. A board with a seat for each area makes it harder to decide on one angle and pay for it on another. Each built-in advisor stays in their own area and answers from what you have told the board, starting with your North Star.

How it works

  1. On the Paper plan, you choose the built-in advisor who answers your first question, and the other four join your board after it. After that, you choose which of the five answers each question.
  2. On the Ink plan or the Brass plan, you can ask your whole board every question.
  3. Your board's page lists every advisor on it by name, and says whether each one is on, switched off, or set aside by your plan.
  4. You ask a question. The advisor answers in its own voice, from what Advicity wrote for it and from your North Star.
  5. Each answer tells you which advisor gave it by name, under a note that your advisors are AI.
  6. Where an answer drew on a line of your North Star, it can point back to that line in your own words.

A worked example

Sam is weighing whether to take a promotion that means more travel. He is on the Paper plan, and he picks Adrienne Marchetti, his AI money advisor, to answer, because his North Star opens with paying off the house early. He asks her about the promotion. His North Star also says he wants to keep training four mornings a week, and travel puts that at risk. That is a body question as much as a money one.

Which plans include it

Every plan seats all five built-in advisors. On the Paper plan each question goes to one advisor of your choice, and once a month your whole board meets on one decision; the Ink plan and the Brass plan ask the whole board on every question. The built-in board is included in every plan at no extra cost.

Privacy and what the board keeps

Every member gets the same five built-in advisors, but no advisor carries anything from one member's board to another's. What your advisors know about you stays on your board. Your advisors give perspective on decisions. Advicity is not a doctor, a therapist, a lawyer, an accountant or a licensed financial adviser. Your advisors will not tell you to buy a named stock or security.

Questions

Are the built-in advisors real people?

No. They are AI advisors with original names, written by Advicity. Every answer says so.

Which advisor should I start with?

None: all five are seated on every plan. On the Paper plan you pick the one whose area is closest to each question as you ask it. On the Ink plan and the Brass plan you ask whichever of them the decision needs, or the whole board.

What happens to my advisors if I move down to the Paper plan?

The five built-in advisors stay live on every plan, so moving to the Paper plan sets none of them aside; each remembers what the plan keeps: the last 30 days on the Paper plan, everything on the Ink plan and the Brass plan. Advisors you built yourself are set aside on the Paper plan, not removed. Your board's page lists them as set aside by your plan. Their memories keep ageing while they are set aside.

Will an advisor tell me what to invest in?

No. Your money advisor will help you think through a financial decision, but will not name a stock or security to buy and is not a licensed financial adviser.
