Plans and switching plans

Paper is free, Charcoal is $99 a month, Ink $249 and Brass $499. Move up or down any time; a plan change never deletes anything.

What it is

Advicity has four plans. The Paper plan is free. The Charcoal plan is $99 a month. The Ink plan is $249 a month. The Brass plan is $499 a month. You pay through Stripe.

Your board belongs to you. A plan decides what your board can reach, and changing your plan changes that reach, never what your board holds. Nothing on your board is deleted because you moved to a different plan.

Why it matters

Advice is worth paying for when it saves you hours, and the right plan is the one whose price you can measure against your own hour. Some members start on the Paper plan to see how their board thinks. Some start on the Brass plan because they already know. Either way, you can move when your needs change, and you never lose what your board holds by doing it.

How it works

  1. Every board starts on the Paper plan. Your plan, in your account menu, shows the plans you can move up to. On the Paper plan, the top of every screen also says "On Paper · Get your whole board →", which opens Your plan. It is not shown in the iPhone app, which says "To upgrade and get more features, go to getadvicity.com/upgrade." instead. In the iPhone app, Your plan shows every plan, with yours marked, and one button, "Upgrade at getadvicity.com", that opens the Advicity website. getadvicity.com/upgrade opens Your plan on the website, after you log in if you need to.
  2. Choose the Charcoal plan, the Ink plan or the Brass plan and pay through Stripe's secure checkout. Your board moves up when Stripe confirms the payment. If the Ink plan is the first plan you pay for, your board is on the Brass plan for your first 30 days, then moves to the Ink plan by itself. You pay the Ink price throughout. If the Charcoal plan is the first plan you pay for, your board is on the Ink plan for your first 30 days, then moves to the Charcoal plan by itself. You pay the Charcoal price throughout.
  3. On a paid plan, moving up to a larger plan, or to paying yearly, is one tap on Your plan, charged to the card you already use. Moving down or cancelling is on Stripe's own page, which Your plan opens.
  4. Moving up takes effect at once. You pay a prorated charge for the rest of the current month or year.
  5. Moving down to a smaller paid plan, such as from the Brass plan to the Ink plan, also takes effect at once. You get a prorated credit for the days you had already paid for.
  6. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month or year you have paid for. Stripe asks why you are leaving; answering is up to you.
  7. When you tap "Cancel my plan" on Your plan, one page comes first. It offers the next plan down and the Paper plan, each one tap, with Cancel right below at the same size. Your board and every decision on it stay whichever you choose.
  8. The built-in advisors stay on every plan. When your board moves to a plan that holds fewer advisors you built yourself, you choose which of them stay on. One is chosen for you in advance, so the change completes even if you do not choose. The others are kept on your board, out of reach, until you move up again.
  9. If a renewal payment fails, you keep full access for seven days. If you added a backup card or bank account, it is tried once for that payment. If it is still unpaid after that, your board moves to the Paper plan until you pay.

A worked example

Chris starts on the Paper plan and asks most of his questions to Iris Merrow, his AI mind advisor. After a month he moves up to the Ink plan through Stripe's checkout and pays for his first month. Now his whole board answers every question, and his North Star and every answer so far come with him. In the spring he moves up to the Brass plan for a busy quarter, then back down to the Ink plan when it ends and gets a prorated credit for the days left. Nothing on his board was deleted at any step.

Which plans include it

Every plan. Here is what each one holds today:

  • The Brass plan, $499 a month. All five built-in advisors. Unlimited decisions. In-depth analysis* and the highest limits. A monthly written review of your decisions arrives on day 30, then monthly. Share up to 200 of your own newsletters, courses or notes a month. The Brass plan remembers everything.
  • The Ink plan, $249 a month. All five built-in advisors. Unlimited decisions. Share up to 50 of your own newsletters, courses or notes. The Ink plan remembers everything. If the Ink plan is the first plan you pay for, your first 30 days are on the Brass plan.
  • The Charcoal plan, $99 a month. All five built-in advisors, one advisor per question, your choice each time, and one full board meeting a week. Unlimited questions and decisions. Share up to 15 of your own newsletters, courses or notes. The Charcoal plan remembers the last 12 months; older memory is kept on file, never deleted. If the Charcoal plan is the first plan you pay for, your first 30 days are on the Ink plan.
  • The Paper plan, free. All five built-in advisors, one advisor per question, your choice each time, and one full board meeting a month. 20 questions a month, which come back on the 1st. Share up to 3 of your own newsletters, courses or notes. Removing one frees its place. The Paper plan remembers the last 30 days.

On the Charcoal plan, the Ink plan and the Brass plan, each question brings in what is most relevant from everything your board holds. On the Paper plan, it brings in as much of what your board holds as fits, newest first.

* The Paper plan, the Charcoal plan and the Ink plan give standard analysis: clear, direct answers for everyday decisions. The Brass plan gives in-depth analysis, which uses a more capable model that weighs more angles and goes further on hard, high-stakes calls. Say you ask whether to sell a quarter of your business to your operations lead. Standard analysis gives you a clear answer on the main trade-off. In-depth analysis also works through what the sale does to your control of the business, what it means if the partnership goes wrong, and how it fits what your North Star says about the next five years. Each member has a monthly allowance of analysis set well above ordinary use; a Brass member who goes past it in a month gets standard analysis until the first of the next month, never a refusal, and the answer screen says so.

Privacy and what the board keeps

Your board sees only what you give it. It can't see your email, your files, your accounts or anything else on your phone or computer.

A plan change never deletes anything on your board. What your plan cannot reach is kept, out of reach, and returns when you move up. Memory older than your plan reaches is kept on file the same way, and your export always includes it. Your card details are handled by Stripe and are not held by Advicity. Only you can see your billing.

Questions

Is there a free trial?

The Paper plan is the trial. It is free, with no card needed, for as long as you want it. The one exception is a member's referral link, which gives a first month of the Ink plan free.

What are my first 30 days on the Ink plan like?

If the Ink plan is the first plan you pay for, your board is on the Brass plan for your first 30 days: in-depth analysis, the Brass limits, and everything the Brass plan includes. You pay the Ink price. Your plan shows the day it ends. After that your board moves to the Ink plan by itself, and nothing on it is deleted. It happens once per member. If you already paid for a plan before, it does not apply.

What are my first 30 days on the Charcoal plan like?

If the Charcoal plan is the first plan you pay for, your board is on the Ink plan for your first 30 days: your whole board on every question, strategy sessions, and the Ink plan's memory and files. You pay the Charcoal price. Your plan shows the day it ends. After that your board moves to the Charcoal plan by itself, and nothing on it is deleted. It happens once per member. If you already paid for a plan before, it does not apply, and moving to the Ink plan during those days does not start a second stretch on the Brass plan. The Paper plan has no such stretch: it is free, so the Paper plan is the trial.

What happens to my advisors if I move down a plan?

The built-in advisors stay on. If the new plan holds fewer advisors you built yourself, you choose which of them stay on. The rest are kept on your board, out of reach, and come back when you move up.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes, on every paid plan. Within 30 days of starting your first paid plan, if you have saved at least 3 decisions and answered the check-ins that have come due, and Advicity was not worth it to you, you get all you paid back, in full. Your plan shows where you stand and has the button; there is nothing to send us. Your plan is cancelled at once and your board moves to the Paper plan, with nothing on it deleted. It can be used once per person, and the full rules are in the Terms.

When does a cancellation take effect?

At the end of the month or year you have already paid for. Until then, your plan works as normal.

Can I pay yearly?

Yes. Pay for a year at once and get two months free: the Charcoal plan is $990 a year (save $198), the Ink plan is $2,490 a year (save $498), the Brass plan is $4,990 a year (save $998). If you switch from paying monthly to paying yearly within 30 days of starting your first paid plan, the first month you paid counts toward the year.

Can I add a backup card?

Yes. After your second payment, or on a yearly plan, Your plan offers to add a backup card or bank account. Stripe charges it only if a renewal payment on your main card fails, and then once for that payment. There is no fee for it. Stripe holds the details, not Advicity.

Will you email me after I cancel?

Once. About 60 days after a paid plan ends because you cancelled, we send one email to say your board is still there. If you come back to a paid plan within 30 days of that email, your board is one plan up for your first 30 days: the Ink plan if you choose the Charcoal plan, the Brass plan if you choose the Ink plan. You pay the normal price of the plan you choose. It happens once. Every email has a link to stop them.

Can I earn free months?

Yes. Settings has your own link to share. Get a free month of Brass for every month a friend you invite stays on a paid plan, up to 3 months per friend. On the Brass plan, each month is taken off your next payment; on the Ink plan or the Paper plan, your board moves up to the Brass plan for the month. The person who joins through your link gets their first month of the Ink plan free. Referral rewards are not part of the Charcoal plan. The full rules are in the Terms.

I was invited by a member. What do I get?

Your first month of the Ink plan is free when you join through a member's link and choose the Ink plan, paid monthly. Stripe asks for your card, and nothing is charged for 30 days. After that the Ink plan is $249 a month unless you cancel before the 30 days end. Your plan shows the day your free month ends. It is once per person, and only through a member's own link; signing up any other way is unchanged.

Can I pay inside the app on my phone?

In the web app you install from your browser, yes: Your plan works the same there as in your browser, and you pay through Stripe. The iPhone app does not sell plans. Where the website shows a way to pay, the app says "To upgrade and get more features, go to getadvicity.com/upgrade." (on the Brass plan, "Manage your plan at getadvicity.com/upgrade."). Your plan in the app shows every plan and one button, "Upgrade at getadvicity.com" (on the Brass plan, "Manage your plan"), which opens the Advicity website, where you buy or change a plan.
