Your past questions

Every question you have asked your board, newest first, with each advisor's answer and the North Star lines it cited, to read again.

What it is

Your past questions is the screen that lists every question you have asked your board, newest first. Open it from Your past questions. Each question in the list shows the day you asked it and who answered it, for example "Answered by Iris Merrow and Beatrice Hollis". Open a question to read its answers again, each under the name of the advisor who gave it.

Past questions are grouped as asked. When you ask one question of several advisors at once, it is one question in the list, and its page shows every answer to it.

Why it matters

A good answer is worth reading twice. A decision often comes back a week later, once you know more or when the moment to act arrives. Your past questions keeps what your board said where you can find it, so you can see what an answer was based on without asking the same question again. Because each answer shows the North Star lines it cited, you can also see which of your own words it leaned on.

How it works

  1. Ask your board a question from your board's page, as you do now. Each advisor's answer is kept on your board.
  2. Open Your past questions while logged in. If you are logged out, you are asked to log in first and then brought back to the list.
  3. The list shows your questions newest first. Under each one is the day you asked it, in the time zone your browser gave Advicity when you signed in, or in US Central time when it has none for you, and the names of the advisors who answered.
  4. Open a question. Its page shows the note that your advisors are AI, the day you asked, the question, and each advisor's answer under their name, with how confident the advisor said it was and the files of yours it drew on. Where an answer cited a line of your North Star, the line is shown in the words it had then. If you have rewritten that line since, the page says "(you've since rewritten this line)", and if you have removed it, "(you've since removed this line)". For a question you asked the whole board, your Chair's card follows: who it asked, why, and its summary.
  5. The list shows up to 300 answers at a time. When there are more, an "Older questions" link at the foot of the list opens the next page, and "Newest questions" brings you back.

A question you send to several advisors within five minutes shows as one question in the list. If you ask one advisor a question and then ask a different advisor the same question, in the same words, within five minutes of the last answer to it, the list shows the two as one question with both answers. The same question asked of the same advisor twice always shows as two questions.

A worked example

Priya is on the Brass plan. On a Monday she asks two of her advisors, Iris Merrow and Beatrice Hollis, whether she should move to a four-day week. She reads both answers and closes the page.

On Thursday her manager asks for her answer. She opens Your past questions. At the top of the list is "Should I move to a four-day week?", with "Asked on Mon" and the date under it, and "Answered by Iris Merrow and Beatrice Hollis". She opens it and reads both answers again. Iris's answer cites the line of Priya's North Star about protecting time for her family, in the words the line had on Monday. Priya rewrote that line on Tuesday, so the page marks it "(you've since rewritten this line)".

Which plans include it

Your past questions is included in the Paper plan, the Ink plan and the Brass plan at no extra cost. On the Paper plan a question goes to one advisor, so it has one answer; your monthly board meeting is kept with its decision. On the Ink plan and the Brass plan a question you asked of several advisors shows all their answers together.

Privacy and what the board keeps

The screen reads your board as you, and it shows only the board you own. It never lists or opens a question asked on another board, even a board you have been given access to. A question with no answer is not listed, and neither are the newsletters, courses, notes and anything else you share with your board. The screen only reads. It has no form, and nothing on it changes or deletes a question or an answer. An answer keeps its advisor's name even after you switch that advisor off. If the advisor is no longer on your board at all, the answer is shown under "An advisor no longer on your board". Your advisors are AI, not people, and they can be wrong.

Questions

Why does one card show two advisors when I asked them separately?

Answers to the same words, from different advisors, that arrive within five minutes of each other show as one card. If you ask a different advisor the same question, in the same words, within five minutes of the last answer to it, the two show as one card.

Which day does "Asked on" show?

The day your first answer to that question was recorded, in the time zone your browser gave Advicity when you signed in. If it has none for you, the day is shown in US Central time.

Can I delete a past question from this screen?

No. The screen only reads your past questions. It has no way to change or delete one.

What if I have asked hundreds of questions?

The list shows up to 300 answers at a time. An "Older questions" link opens the next page, and "Newest questions" brings you back to the start.
